Is it wrong to preach from Christ's earthly ministry?

No, it is not wrong to preach from Christ's earthly ministry; there is nothing wrong with a certain amount of it. We must understand Bethlehem and the virgin birth. Yet Scripture says that though we have known Christ in the flesh, henceforth we know Him no more, so preaching should not be limited to His earthly ministry.

Les explains that while most preaching today comes from Christ’s earthly ministry, there is nothing wrong with a certain amount of that. He agrees we must understand the story of Bethlehem and the virgin birth. However, he points to II Corinthians 5:16, where Paul writes that from henceforth we know no man after the flesh, and though we have known Christ in the flesh, yet henceforth we know Him no more. This separation between Judaism and Christianity, though connected by their beginnings, means Christ’s earthly ministry should not be the sole focus of preaching.
