Did the Abrahamic covenant cancel the Old Testament?

No, the Abrahamic covenant did not cancel the Old Testament. According to the context, when the Abrahamic covenant was given and brought Israel to the place of Messiah’s coming, it did not cancel the Old Testament; rather, it was all fulfilled. Progressive revelation builds on what came before rather than cancelling it.

Les teaches that Scripture is progressive revelation, so when Paul received new revelations of grace, that did not cancel everything that had gone before; it built on it. The Abrahamic covenant was given and brought Israel to the place of having the Messiah come. Les asks whether that cancels the Old Testament and answers, “No, it was all fulfilled.” Then when Israel according to prophecy rejected the Messiah, God saved Paul and said He would send him far hence to the Gentiles. Les points out that Jesus did not teach the twelve to go to the Gentiles with a gospel based on His death, burial, and resurrection, because that had not yet happened. Les also notes that the Body of Christ has no earthly headquarters—it is Heaven—though Christianity did begin from Antioch, not the church at Jerusalem.
