What did Jesus tell the lepers to do after He healed them?
After healing and cleansing the lepers by His own miracle, Jesus told them, “Go show yourself to the priests.” That command fit Israel under the Law and temple worship, not the present age, because there is no temple priesthood today and believers are no longer under the Law.
Les explains that when the lepers were healed and cleansed by Jesus’ own miracle, He told them to go show themselves to the priests. That was an instruction for people living under the Law, not a pattern for today. Since there is no temple worship today and we are not under the Law, God even prompted the Roman army to destroy the temple. The priesthood was uprooted and Israel was sent out into the nations, removing any temptation to cling to temple worship. Thus Paul says that since the death, burial, resurrection, and the revelation of the gospel of grace, henceforth we do not know Christ after the flesh.
