What did Peter tell the people to believe after the lame man was healed?

Peter directed the people to believe in His Name—the name of Jesus Christ. He declared that through faith in His Name the healed man was made strong and given perfect soundness. Peter identified the name Jesus Christ as implying that He was the Christ.

Les explains that Peter, along with the other eleven, would preach the same message wherever they went. Peter set up for these people to believe in His Name. He said that His Name, through faith in His Name, had made the man strong—the man they saw and knew. The faith which is by Him had given him this perfect soundness in the presence of them all. Les points out that Peter does not mention Jesus' death, burial, resurrection, or the power of His shed blood here. Instead, Peter says, "Believe in His Name," and the Name Jesus Christ implied that He was the Christ.

Acts 3:16

And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
