Were the early believers released from the Law after recognizing Jesus as Messiah?

No. The early believers who recognized Jesus as Messiah were not released from the Law. The early chapters of Acts still show Jews under the Law; no one told them they were no longer under it. Peter and John’s temple prayer in Acts 5 indicates continued Judaism, not release from legal demands.

Les teaches that Jesus’ three years of earthly ministry were only to the Jew and under the Law. He never told anyone to stop temple worship or to stop giving sacrifices; they were still under the Law. Even after His death, burial, and resurrection, the early chapters of Acts remain Jews under the Law. No one had told them they were not under the Law; everything was still legal. Peter and John go up to the temple at the hour of prayer, which implies Judaism rather than a Christian requirement. So even though they had recognized Christ as their Messiah and believed, they were not released from the Law. Les explains those early chapters of Acts as God still dealing with the nation of Israel, with very plain language.
