What was Israel supposed to be as a nation before the world?
Israel was supposed to be a nation that had the very mind of God expressed in its national behavior and understanding of the Spirit, serving as God's covenant people. Through the Messiah, Israel was to take the knowledge of Jehovah God to the pagan Gentiles, but instead rejected everything and crucified their Messiah.
Les explains that God called Abraham in Genesis 12 and pulled the nation of Israel out of the river of humanity, giving them all the covenant promises, the law, the priesthood, and the civil law. Israel was to be a nation that had the very mind of God expressed in their national behavior and in their understanding of the Spirit. God then sent the Messiah with the idea that Israel could take the knowledge of Jehovah God to the pagan Gentiles. But before they got that far, they rejected everything and crucified their Messiah.
