What is God doing in the early chapters of Acts?
In the early chapters of Acts, God is still dealing with the nation of Israel under the Law. Jewish believers had recognized Christ as their Messiah, but they were not released from the Law. Temple worship and prayer continued, so everything remained legal and Israel-focused.
Les teaches that even after Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, the early chapters of Acts still show all the language of Jews under the Law. No one had told them they were not under the Law, and everything was still legal. For example, in chapter 5, Peter and John go up to the temple at the hour of prayer. That implies Judaism, because Christianity did not demand going to the temple three or four times a day to pray. They had recognized Christ as their Messiah and were believers, but they were not released from the Law. So those early chapters are still all God dealing with the nation of Israel, and the language is plain.
