What is the time span of the book of Acts and who was God dealing with?

The book of Acts covers a 40-year period, from the crucifixion until Rome destroyed the temple. During that span God was still dealing with His covenant people, Israel, even though He would begin going to the Gentiles before the 40 years ended.

Les explains that the book of Acts is a 40-year period. From the crucifixion until the Roman army destroyed the temple was 40 years. During that time God was still dealing with His covenant people, Israel, even though He was going to start going to the Gentiles before the 40 years were up. Those 40 years were a period of testing in Israel's history, and at the end Israel remained adamant in unbelief. Therefore God permitted Rome to destroy the city and temple, and Israel was sent into dispersion among the nations.
