Why do people go to a lost eternity if their sins were taken care of?

People go to a lost eternity not because their sins were not taken care of or because the atoning blood was unavailable, but because they reject it in unbelief. Their sin debt is paid in full, yet God cannot activate that payment until they believe the Gospel and appropriate the forgiveness provided.

Les explains that if a person goes out into a lost eternity, it will not be because their sins were not taken care of or because the atoning blood was not for them; it is because they rejected it in unbelief. He stresses that the sin debt is paid in full, but God cannot activate that payment until a person believes the Gospel. Believing is necessary before one can appropriate this forgiveness. For those who believe, they are totally forgiven. He also connects this to Colossians and the judgment seat of Christ, where believers will not have to face their sin because it is forgiven and canceled.
