Where did Christ go as our High Priest?
Christ, as our High Priest, went into the very throne room of heaven. There He accomplished for eternity what the earthly high priest had to do every year on the Day of Atonement. This fulfilled the role of the high priest entering the tabernacle, but now in heaven itself.
Les teaches that Christ Himself fulfilled the role of our High Priest by going into the very throne room of heaven. This was appropriate as they were getting ready to go to the Day of Atonement, contrasting the yearly work of the earthly high priest with Christ's eternal accomplishment. The context from John's Gospel, chapter 20, shows Mary at the tomb, recognizing Jesus when He called her by name, but the central point is Christ's heavenly priestly work. He accomplished for eternity what the High Priest had to do every year.
