Why did Mary Magdalene go to Jesus' tomb early on resurrection morning?

She went to the sepulcher early to anoint His body, as was the customary practice. Upon arriving, she found the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. She ran to tell Peter and John, who came running and realized He must have risen.

Les explains that Mary Magdalene had gone early to the sepulcher to anoint the body, as was the custom. When she arrived, the tomb was empty and the stone was rolled away. She ran and told Peter and John, who came running. Les points out that they suddenly realized Mary was right—He must have indeed risen from the dead. But verse 9 shows that as yet they knew not the Scripture that He must rise again from the dead. Had they known He would rise, they would have camped at the tomb that night, but they all went home thinking it was all over. Les also notes that Jesus and the 12 never preached our gospel of death, burial, and resurrection; they did not even believe it themselves.

John 20:1
