Why did Jesus tell Mary not to touch him on resurrection morning?
Jesus told Mary not to touch Him because He had to ascend immediately into the very presence of the Father. He was going to the Father, the God of Mary. As high priest after the order of Melchizedek, not Aaron, He entered the greater and more perfect tabernacle.
Les explains that early that Sunday morning, when Jesus would not let Mary touch Him, He still had to immediately go into the very presence of the Father. Jesus said He was going to ascend to the Father, to the God of Mary. This connects to Hebrews 9, where Christ became a high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle. Earlier, Les taught that Melchizedek was a high priest forever, and Christ was a high priest after the order of Melchizedek, not after Aaron. Melchizedek was not a priest under the law or of the tribe of Levi, but a priest of all, covering the whole human race. Thus Christ is not just high priest of the Jew but high priest of whomever we might be. Moses was instructed by Jehovah on Mount Sinai to build the tabernacle according to the pattern of the tabernacle in heaven.
