What items were contained in the Ark of the Covenant?
The Ark of the Covenant contained three items: the tables of stone with the Ten Commandments, Aaron's rod that budded, and a sample of the manna. Later in Israel's history, however, the only thing in the Ark was the tables of stone, including the Ten Commandments.
Les teaches that the Ark of the Covenant first contained three items: the tables of the Ten Commandments, Aaron's rod that budded, and a sample of the manna. He notes that later in Israel's history, the only thing in the Ark was the tables of stone, including the Ten Commandments. He raises the question of when the rod and manna stopped being included, saying he cannot find the answer.
