Why did the tabernacle not stay at Sinai very long?
The tabernacle did not remain at Sinai long because God soon told Israel it was time to move on. After only about seven weeks from the first of April to the twentieth of May, they packed it up and journeyed north toward the promised land, preparing to enter and occupy the land of milk and honey.
Les explains that Israel had no more than gotten started—about seven weeks, from the first of April to the twentieth of May—before they picked up the tabernacle and moved. They were headed due north toward the promised land, preparing to enter and occupy the land of milk and honey. The whole tabernacle would not stand there very long until God said, "All right, it's time to move on," and move they did. As Exodus closes, the tabernacle is complete and going.
