What happened after Moses finished setting up the whole tabernacle complex?
After Moses finished setting up the court, gate, and entire tabernacle complex, the cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Moses was not able to enter the tent because the cloud, God's presence, abode upon it and the glory filled it.
Les explains that once Moses finished the work, the whole tabernacle complex was complete, set up, and ready for the institution of their worship. As soon as the tabernacle was set up and everything was in place, a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord, or Jehovah, filled the tabernacle. Moses was not able to enter the tent of the congregation. Les notes that access would be left for the priest, and even Moses, great as he was in God's service, could not go in now. The cloud was the very presence and glory of God, called the Shekinah glory in other places, and it abode on the tabernacle. Les connects this to the same cloud that first appeared when Israel came out of Goshen and encamped on the shores of the Red Sea, protecting them from the Egyptians. To the Egyptians it became black darkness, while to the Jews it was protection, and at night it became the pillar of fire. That same cloud now came and rested over the Holy of Holies, where the Ark of the Covenant was, and literally filled that little back room of the tabernacle.
And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.
