Was the tabernacle set up in the same year Israel left Egypt?

No. The tabernacle was erected on the first day of the first month of the next year, as recorded in Exodus 40. Israel came out of Egypt on Passover in the first month, so the setup occurred in the second year, though still within the first 12-month period since the Exodus.

Les explains that the events of Exodus 40 occur while Israel is still in the first 12-month period since leaving Egypt. They were gathered around Sinai. The Lord spoke to Moses, instructing him to set up the tabernacle on the first day of the first month. Because they left Egypt on the night of Passover in the first month, this first day of the first month is the next year. So the tabernacle was set up in the second year, not the same calendar year as the Exodus. The people had brought all the materials, and the craftsmen had prepared everything. The tabernacle was ready to be erected. Moses set it up, placed the ark of the testimony, covered it with the veil, and set up all the furnishings and the court. Thus it was erected on the first day of the first month of the next year, which was April, still within the first 12 months of leaving Egypt.

Exodus 40:2

On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.
