Where was the altar of incense and how was it used?

The altar of incense stood on the north side of the front sanctuary, in the next little room. It was used by burning fresh incense every day; priests brought fire from the brazen altar and put it on the altar to burn the incense. It stood in the middle.

Les explains that after describing the Ark of the Covenant, he moves into the next little room. On the north side was the altar of incense, on which fresh incense was burned every day. They would bring fire from the brazen altar, put it on the altar of incense, and burn their incense; it stood in the middle. On the south side of that front sanctuary was the seven-tiered candlestick. Outside, between the tabernacle tent and the brazen altar where sacrifices were burned, was the laver of cleansing. When the priest came in to begin his sacrifices at the brazen altar, he had to stop at the laver, which was filled with water, made of brass and looking-glass, for cleansing.
