Who gave Bezalel and Aholiab the wisdom to do the sanctuary work?

God gave Bezalel and Aholiab the wisdom and understanding needed for the sanctuary work. Scripture says the Lord put wisdom in their hearts, enabling them to perform all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary. Every ability comes from God, not merely from human talent or effort.

Les explains that in this passage the Lord is the one who put wisdom and understanding in Bezalel, Aholiab, and every wisehearted man so they could know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary. Les asks who is giving them the ability to perform these tasks, and answers that God does. He applies this by asking where we get the ability to do what we do, and says God gave it. He stresses never losing sight of that fact: whatever we are or hope to be is because of what God has done in and through us. Every believer has a role and a gift, even those who think they are untalented, and God gave gifted people to bring about His work. In verse 2, Moses called Bezalel, Aholiab, and every wisehearted man whose heart the Lord had put wisdom, and everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to the work. Les emphasizes that it has to start with the heart.

Exodus 36:1
