What happened to Israel after the golden calf incident?
Following the golden calf, God cleansed Israel, and the remainder were forgiven and restored to fellowship. Both men and women who were willing-hearted brought bracelets, earrings, rings, tablets, jewels of gold, and various cloths as offerings, and wise-hearted women spun with their hands.
Les explains that although all these horrible events around the golden calf had occurred, God cleansed Israel, and the remainder came to a place of fellowship once again and were forgiven. In verse 22, both men and women who were willing-hearted brought bracelets, earrings, rings, tablets, jewels of gold, and every kind of cloth—blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen, goat's hair, red skins—as an offering. Verse 25 notes that all the women who were wise-hearted spun with their hands. Les points out that God still used women, and that the Bible is not anti-feminist; he recalls how feminists wanted to remove the Bible from universities because they disliked Paul's letters, but Romans shows Paul naming woman after woman who helped in ministry, and Christianity was the greatest feminist movement that ever hit the human race.
