Why did God expect Israel to trust Him rather than send spies into the land?

God had already shown His power by bringing Israel out of Egypt and through the Red Sea, so He expected them to trust Him explicitly. The Canaanites, even seven or eight feet tall, were no match for such a God. Sending spies was not part of His plan.

Les explains that the twelve spies were never part of God’s plan. God intended Israel to trust Him explicitly because He had already brought them out of Egypt miraculously and through the Red Sea. Les points out that the Canaanites, even if seven or eight feet tall, were nothing compared to such a God. God’s intention was that as soon as the tabernacle was completed—in a year—they would raise it up and He would take them straight north into the Promised Land, with no delay from twelve spies.
