Why does Les put the father and mother commandment with the first five commandments?
The father and mother commandment is placed with the first five because God is the one who set up the home, and the home is very much part and parcel of His whole plan for the ages. The first five commandments call us to love God, and the home belongs to that divine order.
Les explains that when Jesus said to love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, and mind, He was referring to the first five commandments. Those commandments show how God approaches us: He is the supreme God, He will not give in to competition from idols, He created everything, and He set up the home. Because God Himself established the home, Les groups the father and mother commandment with the first five. The home is very part and parcel of God's whole plan for the ages.
