What did God do to Israel after they rejected the Messiah?

After Israel rejected the Messiah, God did not cast them away completely. He dispersed them, removed their temple and country, yet salvation came to the Gentiles through their fall. Israel remains His covenant people, now back in the land awaiting their temple.

Les explains that although Israel stumbled over their Messiah, God has not finished with His covenant people. He dispersed them, took away their temple and country, but they are back in the land awaiting the day they can have their temple once again. Their fall opened salvation to the Gentiles, yet God did not remove them completely. He raised up Saul of Tarsus as the apostle of the Gentiles, and Israel did not stumble so as to fall beyond recovery.
