Can someone make too much of the nation of Israel in the Bible?

No, Scripture indicates it is impossible to make too much of Israel. Deuteronomy 32:8 says the Most High divided the nations their inheritance and set the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the children of Israel, showing God ordered the nations in relation to Israel.

Les teaches from Deuteronomy 32:8 that Moses wrote the words, but God Himself, the sovereign almighty God, is speaking. The passage says the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, meaning all the nations of the world, when He designated their borders, population, and blessings. He separated the sons of Adam and set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. Les notes that some may accuse him of making too much of the nation of Israel, but he responds, "How can you? You can't make too much of it."
