What kind of place is the wilderness the woman flees to?

The wilderness is a designated place prepared by a sovereign God, where the escaping remnant of Jews is nourished and providentially protected for three and a half years. It is a place of divine care, like Israel in the wilderness with manna and water from the rock.

Les explains that the woman represents the escaping remnant of Jews. The wilderness is her place, a designated place appointed by a sovereign God. There she is nourished and taken care of, even as God cared for Israel in the wilderness with manna and water from the rock. She is given two wings of a great eagle to fly into it. For a time, times, and half a time—three and a half years—she is providentially protected from the serpent. Les connects this to Exodus, where Israel was isolated in Goshen from the plagues, showing the wilderness is a place of divine insulation during the tribulation.
