Who is the dragon in Scripture?

In Scripture, the dragon is always a reference to Satan. Revelation 12 identifies the dragon as the one cast out of heaven earlier in the chapter, who then persecutes the woman—the nation of Israel. The old dragon is thus Satan, who turns his attention on Israel during the tribulation.

Les explains that the dragon in Scripture is always in reference to Satan, who has been cast out of heaven earlier in Revelation chapter 12. When the old dragon saw that he was cast into the earth, he persecuted the woman who brought forth the man-child. Les identifies that woman as the nation of Israel. This connects to the escaping remnant of Jews at the midpoint of the Tribulation, who will go to their place in the wilderness where the triune God protects and feeds them. The last three and a half years will be the most awful time in all of human history, but God will protect this remnant.

Revelation 12:13

And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
