What did God set the seventh day apart as for Israel?

God set the seventh day apart as Israel’s holy Sabbath—a day of rest and worship. This was instituted before the Ten Commandments and later incorporated into them, mandating that Israel observe that holy seventh-day Sabbath. It was not Sunday, the first day, but the seventh day.

Les teaches that this Sabbath was set up before the Ten Commandments were given, when it was mandated that Israel should have that holy Sabbath on the seventh day. God, dealing with Israel, set the seventh day as the day of rest, the day of worship, and the holy day, and He later incorporated it into the Ten Commandments. Les also warns that Sunday is not the Sabbath and should not be called the Sabbath, because it is the first day, not the seventh. The high point of all God’s dealing with man, however, centers in His death, burial, and resurrection, which sets believers apart.
