Are weak or carnal believers baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ?

Yes. According to 1 Corinthians 12:13, by one Holy Spirit all believers—every believer, whether weak or strong, spiritual or carnal—are baptized into the one body of Christ. This baptism is not limited to a favored few or a special elite.

Les explains that Paul uses the human body as an illustration: one body with many members, all controlled by one central nervous system, one mind, one brain. In the same way, the body of Christ is one. In 1 Corinthians 12:13, Paul says that by one Spirit—capitalized, meaning the Holy Spirit—all believers are baptized into that one body. Les emphasizes that Paul writes to believers and says “all,” not just a favored few or a special elite. This includes every believer, whether weak or strong, whether spiritual or carnal; they are still all baptized into the one body. The determination of who is a believer rests with God.

1 Corinthians 12:13

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
