Les Feldick Bible Study

How does Les summarize the gospel?

The gospel is the good news of salvation: Christ was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead. His death implies the shed blood, and the message is summarized as the finished work of the cross. Salvation comes by believing plus nothing, because Christ has done it all.

Les explains the gospel as the body of truth from 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, where Paul says that by the gospel you are saved, and that gospel is that Christ was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead. He notes that the shed blood is implied in His death and cannot be left out, then summarizes it as the finished work of the cross. That finished work opens our Red Sea ahead and takes us away from the power of the Egyptian army behind us, or the power of Satan. Les also stresses that Scripture does not add baptism, church membership, or other works after believing; salvation is believing plus nothing, because Christ has done it all.
