Les Feldick Bible Study

In what ways does God exercise His power toward believers besides raising Christ from the dead?

God exercises His power toward believers by bringing them out of their deadness in sin and their slavery to sin, just as surely as He opened the Red Sea by His power. To those who are saved and called, the preaching of the cross is the power of God, and Christ is the power and wisdom of God.

Les teaches that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who perish, but to those who are saved and have believed it, that preaching becomes the power of God. He explains that God exercises His power not only in resurrecting Christ from the dead, but also in bringing believers out of their deadness in sin and slavery to it. Just as God opened the Red Sea by His power, He exercises that same power toward believers. Paul refers only to the resurrected Christ, where God's power was made evident. In verse 24, unto them who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. Therefore, believers must rely upon that power.
