Les explains that in Exodus 12 the Israelites were to eat the Passover, and everyone had to be circumcised—whether Jews, servants, or whatever. They were obedient to all of it. This means circumcision was required across the board for those observing Passover. The context then moves into Exodus 13, where the firstborn of Israel are set apart. Moses took Joseph's bones with him because Joseph had sworn that God would surely visit the children of Israel and they would carry his bones away.
