Which areas in Greece are still valid today compared to Asia Minor?
Philippi is still a valid seaport, Athens is still valid, and Corinth, while not the ancient city, has another city beside it. Many areas of Greece remain valid. In contrast, the little cities of Asia Minor in western Turkey are gone, none left.
Les explains that Greece was Europe, while Asia Minor was the Asia of the New Testament. Paul had started many churches in Asia Minor, such as Thyatira, Pergamos, and Smyrna. By the time he was martyred, those believers had turned away from his gospel. The result is evident: none of those little cities are left. But many areas in Greece are still valid—Philippi remains a seaport, Athens remains valid, and Corinth, though not the ancient city, has another city next to it. Much of Greece still recalls Paul's journeys, but western Turkey has nothing; it all faded off the scene.
