Why is knowing Christ better than education and the knowledge explosion?
Knowing Christ is better because it goes beyond human knowledge. Education and today's knowledge explosion are impressive, yet they cannot compare with knowing Christ's love and being filled with all the fullness of God. Such knowing surpasses mere information and technology, fulfilling the Apostle's prayer.
Les explains that everyone is hung up on education, and he has nothing against education. He acknowledges the amazing explosion of knowledge and technology today, but says something far better is to know Christ, to know Him beyond human knowledge, and to be filled with all the fullness of God. This connects to the Apostle's prayer in verse 19, to know the love of Christ, which goes beyond knowledge, and to enter into a 4th dimension. Les also notes Isaac Newton saw that before the Lord would return a body of men would be raised up to discern the prophecies written in this book, and we are seeing an understanding of prophecy like never before. Yet the greater thing remains knowing Christ.
