What is the single reason lost humanity goes to eternal doom?
Lost humanity goes to eternal doom for only one reason: unbelief. They do not go to the lake of fire because of sin, drunkenness, adultery, or gambling. They go because they refuse to believe the gospel—that everything is already done—and never draw on the finished work by faith.
Les explains that the lost are not sent to the lake of fire for all eternity because of their sin, drunkenness, adultery, gambling, or whatever else one might call sin. The single issue is unbelief: they refuse to believe that everything is already done. Although all lost people need only draw on that finished work by believing the gospel, they never exercise the faith God demands, so they never enjoy its ramifications. Les emphasizes that lost humanity goes to eternal doom for only one reason: they refuse to believe. He also connects their blindness to the powers of Satan, whose number one method today is to keep people so busy, even with legitimate activities, that they never think in terms of the spiritual.
