What happened to Paul because he proclaimed something Peter and the eleven knew nothing of?
Because Paul proclaimed a truth unknown to Peter and the eleven, he was bombarded with false accusations that should have been reserved for false teachers. He was accused of not bringing the truth and of no longer working with Peter and the eleven, and he suffered privation after privation for the love of Christ.
Les explains that Paul did not come with fickle language; everything he said was prompted by the Holy Spirit, and he was constrained by the love of Christ. Paul was out proclaiming something that Peter and the eleven really knew nothing of, and he was not working hand in glove with them anymore. Consequently, he was accused of not bringing the truth because he was not agreeing with the Judaizers in Jerusalem. He was bombarded with false accusations that should have been reserved for false teachers. Les notes the irony that often the false teachers are not bombarded, but those with the truth come under attack. Paul was able to suffer all the privations listed later in II Corinthians, going through privation after privation.
