What is the blessed hope Christians are looking for?
The blessed hope is the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Scripture says believers are to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world while looking for that glorious appearing—not the Second Coming, but the appearing of the great God and Savior.
Les teaches from Titus 2 that the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation, and that this grace instructs believers to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. As they go through the workday week, they are to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world while looking for that blessed hope. Les identifies that hope as the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. He stresses this is not the Second Coming, but the glorious appearing of the God of creation and the God of this Book. He also points out that this verse gives deity to Christ, proving Jesus is truly God, and tells listeners to mark it down for anyone who demands such proof.
