Why should the Old Testament and Gospels be taught alongside Paul's letters?
The Pauline letters reveal a secret mystery not found in the Old Testament or the Gospels, yet that new revelation builds upon everything that went before. Therefore the Old Testament and Gospels must be taught alongside Paul's letters to provide the foundational context for the mystery and to show how it rests on prior Scripture.
Les explains that Paul's letters contain a revealed Body of Truth called the Mystery, which the Holy Spirit made known to Paul. These doctrines and truths are not found in the Old Testament, Christ's ministry, or Peter's activity in Acts; they are a whole new revelation. Yet, as Les teaches, this new revelation builds on everything that went before. Therefore he teaches the Old Testament and the Gospels just as much as the Pauline letters, so the foundation and continuity of the mystery are understood. Paul confirms in Romans 16:25 that the mystery was kept secret since the world began, and Deuteronomy 29 notes that secret things belong to the Lord.
