What did the Roman trumpet call mean after a victory?
After a victory, the Roman trumpet call announced that the battle was over, the Romans had won, and the legionaries were returning home to Italy and back to Rome. The generals used it to let every soldier know they were going home.
Les explains that in the Roman army, when the battle was over and the Romans were victorious, the generals wanted to let the legionaries know they were going home to Italy and back to Rome. That trumpet call was a message every legionary could be exalted by. Les then applies this picture to the believer: we are in a ferocious spiritual battle and persecution is rampant, but one day that trumpet call will take us out of this existence, and we will suddenly be changed, as Paul says.
