What did Jesus tell the twelve disciples in Luke 18:31?
In Luke 18:31, Jesus took the Twelve aside and said, “Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man shall be accomplished.” He thus declared that the prophetic Word about the Son of Man had to be fulfilled.
Les explains that this statement came at the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry, shortly before they went up to Jerusalem. Jesus took the Twelve and told them that all things written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man would be accomplished. Les connects this to Deuteronomy 29:29, where God has the prerogative to keep things secret and reveal them at the right time. Even with the Twelve, God kept things secret that they did not understand until He was ready to reveal it. Otherwise prophecy would be nothing, but everything written in the prophetic Word had to be fulfilled.
Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
