What does the Holy Spirit's down payment assure regarding our physical body?

The Holy Spirit's down payment assures the redemption of the purchased possession, including this physical body, which is not yet redeemed. Although the body remains in the flesh and is prone to pain, accidents, and sin like the unbeliever, the Spirit as the earnest guarantees that even this body will be included in that future redemption.

Les teaches from Ephesians 1:13-14 that after believers heard the word of truth, the gospel of salvation, and believed, they were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. That Spirit is the earnest, or down payment, of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession. Les points out that a person might ask, “I thought I was already redeemed.” We are, but the part not yet redeemed is this body. The body is still here in the flesh and is still prone to the same pain, accidents, and sin as the unbeliever. The down payment therefore assures that even this physical body, of which the soul and spirit are now apart, will be included in the redemption of the purchased possession.

Ephesians 1:14

Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
