Who was the first to ever be resurrected?

Resurrection began with the Lord Jesus Christ. He was the first to ever be resurrected, meaning He died and arose from the dead, never to die again, for all eternity. This differs from those merely brought back to life, like Lazarus, who died again.

Les explains that the whole chapter deals with resurrection, which is unique to Christianity. He stresses that resurrection does not refer to someone who died and was brought back to life, such as the widow's son and Lazarus; they were merely called back from the dead and died again. Instead, resurrection began with the Lord Jesus Himself. He was the first to ever be resurrected: He died and arose from the dead, never again to die, for all eternity. That same eternal life is what believers experience the moment they believe the Gospel.
