What does "evil communications corrupt good manners" mean in 1 Corinthians 15:33?

Evil communications means more than words; it refers to one's concourse or association with people. Associating with evil people will rub off and corrupt good conduct or character. Scripture therefore warns believers not to turn from like-minded fellowship and run with the world, because people become like the friends they run with.

Les explains that "evil communications" in 1 Corinthians 15:33 is not limited to spoken words; it means our concourse or association with people. If that association is with evil people, it will rub off. He illustrates this with children and young people, who become like the friends they run with. In the same way, professing Christians who abandon fellowship with like-minded believers and run with the world will end badly. So he connects the verse to not neglecting the assembling of ourselves together, and then verse 34 calls believers to awake to righteousness and sin not.

1 Corinthians 15:33

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
