Why was every Jew meant to be a priest?

Every Jew was meant to serve as a priest of God so that Israel could bring Gentiles to a knowledge of God. In the Old Testament format, God intended to reach the Gentiles through Israel, preparing the nation for that role when the appropriate time came.

Les explains that God was preparing the nation of Israel for a specific role: when the appropriate time came, every Jew would have been a priest of God to bring Gentiles to a knowledge. This was the Old Testament format—God's way of reaching the Gentiles was through Israel. The Gentiles would recognize that God was with the Jew and say, "We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you."
