Did God give nations and men free will?

God gave men and nations a genuine free will from the beginning. Governments make decisions, invade other nations, and build military forces under that freedom. Yet everything unfolds exactly according to His predetermined plan for the ages, so their choices still accomplish God’s purposes.

Les teaches that before anything was created, the triune God had already blueprinted everything and put it in motion. From the beginning, God gave men and nations their free will; governments make decisions, invade other nations, and raise up navies and air forces. Yet Les points out that from the beginning of time until the end of God’s plan for the ages, everything falls in place exactly as God predetermined. Men and nations do pretty much as they think they want to do, but the end result still brings everybody and everything to the end of God’s purposes. Les illustrates this with Acts 2:23, where Peter says Jesus was delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, yet they crucified and slain Him. Les explains that in eternity past the Triune God determined this plan, and in His foreknowledge He could see every detail coming down through history.
