Did God give free will to nations as well as to individuals?

Yes. God granted the exercise of free will not only to individuals but also to nations. Nations have been given substantial free exercise, yet after six thousand years of human history, God's program remains right on schedule. This remains an amazing reality.

Les teaches that from the Garden onward God turned over to human choice the exercise of free will, and this was not only to individuals but to nations. Nations have been given pretty much their free exercise. Yet after 6,000 years of human history, through wars, famines, insurrections, and revolutions, the world is still exactly where God intended it to be, right on schedule. He ties this to civil government: the powers that be are ordained of God, and those who resist the power resist the ordinance of God and receive condemnation. If a totalitarian, ungodly government arises, the believer's first responsibility is to live peaceably under it, resisting only when it goes contrary to Christian experience and the commands of Scripture.
