Is God unfair for making the way of salvation narrow?
No, God is not unfair. He is too fair. Though the way of salvation is narrow, He made it available to anybody who will simply believe. If He had imposed a trainload of requirements, stipulations, rules, and regulations, unfairness could be charged, but the way in is easy.
Les explains that critics complain about an exclusivist gospel, but Scripture declares there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved than the name of Jesus. Millions go to an eternal devil's hell because they will not come into the narrow way God prescribed. The objection that God is unfair is answered: He is too fair, because He made the narrow way available to anybody who will simply believe. If God had put on a whole train load of requirements, stipulations, rules, and regulations, then unfairness could be charged; but the way is narrow while the way in is easy. Les uses John's Gospel, Chapter 10, with the sheepfold and the door: anyone entering must come in by the door, and anyone trying to come in over the top is a thief and a robber.

How is God fair if only few find the narrow way?
God is not unfair in saving only through the narrow way; the problem is that He is too fair, since He has made the way available to anybody if they will simply believe it.
