Why does Les Feldick pray for the Holy Spirit to open hearts when he teaches?
Because nothing he can do will be effective if the Holy Spirit does not do His work, he prayerfully asks the Lord to open hearts before teaching. Bible teaching depends entirely on the Holy Spirit’s work, not human ability or eloquence.
Les explains that while teaching, he watches the clock and prayerfully says, “Now Lord, just open hearts,” because there is nothing he can do if the Holy Spirit does not do His work. He recognizes that the effectiveness of the teaching does not rest on the teacher’s own ability but on the Holy Spirit’s work. This prayer reflects his dependence on the Lord as he prepares to teach and then return to 1 Corinthians chapter 15.
