Were the signs in Egypt mainly for Pharaoh or for Moses and Aaron?

The signs in Egypt were mainly for Moses and Aaron, not for Pharaoh. They served to prove to those two men that God would perform the supernatural and bring Israel out of Egypt. Pharaoh witnessed them, but the primary purpose was to confirm God's power and promise to His chosen leaders.

Les explains that Israel has long demanded signs, going back to Moses' call, as I Corinthians 1:22 says the Jews require a sign. When God called Moses, He gave signs such as the shepherd's rod becoming a serpent to show Moses that He was in it and would take him back to Pharaoh. Moses objected that Pharaoh would not believe. God then told Moses and Aaron to throw down the rod, and it became a serpent. Les teaches that all these signs were not so much for Pharaoh's benefit but for Moses and Aaron, to prove to those two men that God was going to do the supernatural and bring Israel out of Egypt. That pattern of the supernatural continued through Israel's history and into Christ's earthly ministry, where miracles proved to the Jew that He was who He said He was, including the seven signs recorded in John.
