How should we analyze the issue of speaking in tongues?

Analysis should follow Paul's admonition to the Corinthians: take stock of what is being done, recognizing that all that glitters is not gold. Avoid condemning those who claim tongues, but evaluate the practice in the spirit of love and according to what God wants, not what men want.

Les teaches that this issue should be analyzed by heeding Paul's continued admonition in 1 Corinthians 14:14 to the Corinthians—to take stock of what they were doing and realize that all that glitters isn't gold. He clarifies he is not condemning those who claim to have spoken in tongues, nor looking down on them. Instead, he asks everyone, in the spirit of chapter 13, the love chapter, to analyze the whole thing in the light of what God wants, not what men want. He notes we live in an era of instant gratification, which can influence any area of life.
