What happened after the Ephesian disciples heard Paul?

After the twelve men heard Paul, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in other languages and prophesied. Scripture records this as one of three times the Spirit manifested speaking multiple known languages.

Les teaches that these Ephesian disciples were likely Jews who had not even heard that there was a Holy Spirit. When Paul asked about their baptism, they said they had been baptized unto John's baptism. Paul explained that John baptized with the baptism of repentance through the nation of Israel. Then, after these twelve men heard Paul, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with languages other than their own and prophesied. Les points out that this is one of only three times in the whole Book of Acts, and in all of Scripture, where the Holy Spirit manifested Himself by giving out the gift of speaking a multitude of languages. Those were known languages, understandable if someone from that same background happened to be in the room.

Acts 19:5

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
