Can one part of the body say to another, 'I have no need of you'?

No. The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of thee,' nor can the head say to the feet, 'I have no need of you.' Every member belongs to the one body and has a place of function, so no part is unnecessary or independent of the others.

Les teaches that the Body of Christ is a compilation of many into one whole, making believers one in Christ wherever they go. He uses the human body to illustrate this: the foot cannot claim it is not of the body because it is not a hand, and the ear cannot claim it is not of the body because it is not an eye. Such reasoning is ridiculous, yet it makes the point that every member has a place of function. The whole body functions together for the purpose of using and energizing the body. In the passage he reads, the eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of thee,' nor can the head say to the feet, 'I have no need of you.' Even someone who has lost a little toe misses it almost as much as a whole hand, showing that the most feeble member is still important. Therefore, no part of the body can rightly say to another, 'I have no need of you.'

1 Corinthians 12:21

And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
